Sustainability Education Programs

Sustainability as an area of study, is still pretty new, but becoming more and more integrated into post-secondary learning all the time, especially in fields like Business, Sciences and Technology. Most major post-secondaries in our region already offer students sustainability related courses as part of their programs.

However, if you’re looking for more formal sustainability specific programs, here are some great options to consider:

 
 

Sustainability Certificate

The UofA offers a Sustainability Certificate program, available as a complimentary credential for undergraduate students in most faculties/majors.

Centre for Sustainability Excellence

Though not local to Alberta, the Centre for Sustainability Excellence offers CSR and Sustainability training programs relatively nearby in Toronto and Seattle (you could also choose training locations in New York, London or Athens if that was more your speed). Though this course used to be offered in classroom only, post-Covid-19, it will likely all shift online.

Completion of the Advanced Certified Sustainability Practitioner program comes with the opportunity to apply for a formal, internationally recognized ‘CSR-P Designation’, certified by CMI (Chartered Management Institute).

Other courses available through their 100% online Sustainability Academy include subjects like:

1) Sustainability Reporting (SDG/GRI+ISO)

2) Social Return On Investment (SROI)

Colbourne Institute
